Side Trip From Bahia

From Bahia we took a day trip to San Vicente and Canoa.  First we took a taxi to San Vicente from our Hosteria...it cost $3.00.

We didn't stay there long but hopped a bus to Canoa. It cost $1.00. But before we did, we took a few pics.

On the right is the bus terminal at San Vicente along with some vendors and three wheeler taxis.

Cultural Center (I think) on the left.

After arriving at Canoa, we walked a couple three blocks to a street that runs along the beachfront. There were shops after shops after shops all setup under tents and canopies. Also along that line are little eating joints and bars. On the other side of the street there is more of the same but the eating establishments were a little more substantial. Heather managed to spend money at the very first table merchant we came to.  Then again about 3 doors down (sounds like a band doesn't it) she managed to buy a $10.00 purse for $8.00.

All that walking made us thirsty and of course it was baños time anyway so we stop at a little bar and grill place. The bathroom was outside and down a little corridor to who knows where for sure until you're there. Kinda reminded me of an Indiana Jones thing. But it turned out to be a typical Ecuadorian outdoor bathroom.

The beer was of course not that cold and the people there were a group of young snot nosed know it all types...the kind that were born with a spoon their nose. But they didn't bother us...in fact they were good for a laugh.

After the beer Heather found another place to spend money and bought a $20.00 dollar dress for $15.00 and she was happy.

And then on to the beach!

There was a line of canopies about a 1/2 of the way down the beach which could be rented for about $5.00 a day (according to a young lady who was using one). The line was at least a 1/4 mile long if not more.

There were vendors on the beach selling various wares...many on a tricycle with a cart or a simple push cart. You didn't have to walk far to get something to eat or drink.

Heather had a blast out in the water.

And of course she is happy because she absolutely loves the water!

Where was I all this time? I ended up beaching myself and I couldn't really move so I just watched the backpacks.

All the swimming made Heather hungry and all the effort I had to expend trying to move at all made me hungry and so we headed for something to eat.

There was plenty of great seafood.

And a nice local family to take our picture (and not our camera). There is a really interesting story behind this family which will be told in the near future.

And some strangely dressed and acting dreadlocked tattoo laden ladies ( I think) out side to entertain and...

And some local talent to serenade us (good singer)...

And to top it off a couple local cuties to make you smile!
