Over 100 Bethelites work here distributing literature produced in Columbia, Brazil and a little from Japan. They work on translating into several local dialects and Ecuadorian sign language. We spoke with brothers in the computer department where they manage phone, internet and computer systems. A sister in the territory department describe their work of mapping congregation territory boundaries. She showed us a map where white denoted no congregation assignments. We were very surprised to see the amount of land yet unassigned.
In 1980 there were some 5,000 Witnesses preaching in Ecuador. Today, there are well over 70,000, yet the need is still very great. The Native Indians, English, French, some Asian and Ecuadorian Sign Language are all in need of assistance.

Did the brothers mention where the English was needed there in Ecuador? I am guessing Cuenca, Quito, Ibarra, etc... Did they happen to mention where the most need for English is?

ReplyDeleteOur tour was very short and we did not get to ask a lot of questions. The best thing to do would be to contact the branch office directly. I will say that Cuenca is the most popular place for ex-pats, but there are a lot of English on the coast with only a small group of Witnesses to find them.
