Our Accomodations in Bahia de Caráquez, Manabi, Ecuador

Our stay here has been very interesting so far.  We are staying at the Saiananda Hosteria on the outskirts of Bahia.  It is by the river but only a couple miles from the bay.  It's like a jungle park here and our host is very nice and the staff very humble and so far quite accommodating.  It's a bit warm as the building is not air conditioned but our room has a small a/c unit in it so our sweating is minimized for the evening.

Don't know what they are for sure but I have been getting bit and they really itch. They are so tiny I can hardly see them.  Most of the time I don't.  Bring with you some anti itch creme along with your heavy duty bug spray because some will find their way through the spray.  They always do.

As time goes by we found that the Hosteria was not quite as described.

Although some of the amenities are somewhat true, the condition of said amenities makes them a little less appealing, a little less of a draw. For instance, the gardens are so overgrown that it is difficult to enjoy them.  And the peacocks, and all other critters except their 7 barking dogs, are in cages...if you can find them. If you don't like dogs then don't come here as they have the run of the place. Fortunately, we like dogs and they are well behaved. Sometimes at night though, they bark at who knows what and disturb our sleep but it lasts a short period of time.

Something that really bugs me is that although they advertise a restaurant, it is not really true in the sense of the word. You cannot come in and order something off a menu and have it prepared and served to you.  If you were to ask about having a dinner in the morning you most likely have dinner that night. What it would be I do not know. Don't even know if you would have a choice.  I will say though, that everything we have eaten has been excellent...all homemade including the bread and juice.

It is very quiet and serene here most of the time and is nice as long as you know that it's advertising is a little over creative and although the amenities are here, they have not been well maintained. The long an short of it all is that if you expect a really nice bed and breakfast, then you won't be disappointed.
